By listening to all the broadcasts and in
comparison to all of them they mainly contained interviews but a small amount
of actuality and soundtracks. This is most likely to be down to the PM radio
station. Being known as one of the formal radio stations as they regularly
broadcast about daily news happening around the world and also interviewing the
general public on their views and thoughts about today's society really gives
the audience an insight into other people’s opinions. By playing music often wouldn’t
really suit the audiences/listeners needs as they expect to find interviews,
context and analysis. I personally believe that PM is aimed at an older
audience preferably people over the age of 30 because they mostly sit in the
middle/upper class category, and they are the ones that would specifically be
interested in listening to these sort of broadcasts.
With all four speech packages completed, one based
on an art show and the rest mainly around interviews, but each package is
targeted at different people. For example speech package number three is
targeted at parents who are preparing their kids for school and kids who are
preparing themselves for school whereas speech package number four is targeted
at people in their early 20's to their late 40's this is a huge difference
reason being is because each package has a different purpose and it targets a
particular audience to broadcast to. Also they are all on different genres,
which makes it more interesting as it talks about the particular genre. In
general I believe that BBC Radio 4 PM is mainly for a target audience of people
in their late 20s early 30s people who generally love listening to the radio
and want to gain some daily knowledge every often. Radio stations are great for
speech packages they inform, educate and explain about different topics in
detail.
